Terry Rodgers

The Calligraphy of Disproportionate Advantage, 2007, 76" x 108", oil on linen

I love this guys work. Mostly because his paintings are like snapshots from my personal life as an international player...Ok, the secret's out! Don't be jealous..as you can see, it's just a bunch of sexy people lounging around naked, drinking champagne and smoking cigarettes. I don't even like cigarettes!

"Rodgers’ current work focuses on portraying contemporary body politics. His rendering of the upper-class leisure life stands as an iconic vision of today’s society. The resulting paintings are not snapshots or slices of life, not verite records of actual moments in actual party or family situations, or diaristic records of his life, but carefully constructed and composited fictions, designed to elicit the most meaning and sustain the maximum amount of ambiguity. "

He also does a lot of G-Rated work that is equally impressive. I think his understanding and use of color & contrast is phenomenal and heightens the experience. Rarely are the subjects looking at us or even each other making me wonder about the activity out of the frame and also serving to fracture the space within the frame while maintaing a tight and balanced composition. I'll refrain from more artsy talk...You can see more of his work and learn more at >> TerryRodgers.com << Eyes on You, 2006, 62" x 72", oil on linen

Warm Inside.... (old mix to download)

It's been really , really cold here on the east coast. so, I've just been hibernating and digging around in my cave. I've been looking for some files for my design portfolio and while doing so, decided to listen to some old mixes I've done. Here's a mix I did about 7 years ago. As you can guess, only vinyl, done in one take without any fancy editing or 4-tracking techniques. Any real DJ out there knows how hard it can be to actually mix lower tempo soul music and can appreciate hearing some of the roughness. By the way, the 'join CD tracks' feature in iTunes didn't work as well as expected so when listening to the mix here you'll notice a small skip where the tracks were. (sorry, I can't seem to locate the orginal disc with the full single track.) Use the download link to get the full zip file.

This is just wrong!

Umm...shouldn't there be 2 girl & 1 dude here instead of 2 dudes and 1 girl? Or, at least 2 condom balloon animals that aren't blowing and fucking each other?! This stroke of brilliance was done by SuperFad. You can see other stuff they've done on their site.

The Juan Maclean- Give Me Every Little Thing

I love how in the beginning you think the two dudes are some gay lovers and by then the dude goes from getting it ON with some hot black girl and then gets into some weird wire-frame virtual sex. Check out the Cajmere remix too..
